Financial Education Plan for Spain
In Spain, since 2008, the most important project for training the public in personal finance has been the “Financial Education Plan”, promoted by the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) and the Bank of Spain (BdE), which was later joined by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness -through the Directorate General of Insurance and Pension Funds (DGSFP), as supervisor of insurance content, exclusively- and the Ministry of Education, and various other public and private entities.
The Plan follows the recommendations and principles of the European Commission and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and its objective is to improve the financial culture of citizens, providing them with the basic knowledge and tools necessary to manage their finances in a responsible and informed manner.
