Interest rate

Interest rates are the percentage of interest paid on a loan or line of credit and the return on an investment.

In macroeconomics, interest rates refer to the official interest rate set by central banks. They are a tool used in monetary policy. According to the Bank of Spain, the ECB interest rates are the minimum bid rate for main refinancing operations, the interest rate on the marginal lending facility, and the interest rate on the deposit facility.
