Overbought is a trading phenomenon that occurs when the demand for an asset is so high that the price shoots up dramatically away from its intrinsic and real value.
Analyzing whether a security is overbought can be used to anticipate trend changes and possible short-term declines.
The opposite effect is known as oversold.
