SOCIMI is the Spanish acronym for Listed Real Estate Investment Companies (Sociedades Anónimas Cotizadas de Inversión Inmobiliaria). They are the Spanish equivalent of the American REITs.
SOCIMIs are companies listed on the stock exchange that specialize in investing mainly in rental properties and provide a way of investing in real estate without buying a house.
In order to qualify as a SOCIMI, certain requirements must be met, including distributing the majority of the company’s profits to shareholders as dividends.
