Treasury stock

A company’s shares that are owned by the issuing company itself are known as treasury stock.

Let us imagine that there are 100,000 shares of Company A listed on the stock exchange and that 20,000 of them are held by that company. These shares constitute Company A’s treasury stock.

It is common for the funds of large banks to hold treasury shares in the bank itself.
