Asset or financial asset

A financial asset is an instrument or security that gives the buyer the right to receive future income from the seller.

Financial assets are rights to the real assets of their issuer and the returns they generate. When a person buys a financial asset, they are investing in the hope of getting a return on their money, while the issuer is financing its activity.

Financial assets are issued by companies or countries and do not usually have a real physical value, like a tangible asset, such as a car, would. Las shares and bonds are examples of financial assets.
